I attended the Mayor of Whitworth’s annual community carol service on Monday 19th December. It was an excellent evening. The hall was full and everyone gave gusty renditions of carols old and new.  The local primary schools joined forces and produced a wonderful choir who sang to us. The music was provided by the Whitworth Vale and Healey Youth Brass Band a talented group of juniors who accompanied all the singing.  Interspersed were Bible reading, by community members, which explained the Christmas story from Advent to Christmas. A definite – celebration in word and song. The event was rounded off with coffee and mince pies for a donation to the Mayor’s charity.
