New Chairman for 2018/19

The Parish Council is pleased to announce that at its Annual Meeting on 17th May, Cllr Craig Johnson was elected as Chairman for 2018/19. The new Vice-Chairman is Cllr Geraldine Carter.

Library Service Delivery Review

Calderdale Council is asking local people to have their say on the future of Community Libraries in Calderdale, to ensure they meet the needs of the community. Public Consultation is currently taking place to drive a review of the 15 Community Libraries, which includes Ripponden. The consultation deadline is 30th April 2018.

Annual Parish Meeting (Annual Assembly) 2018

The Parish Council is hosting this years Annual Parish Meeting at Ripponden Community Centre on Tuesday 27th March 2018 7.00pm for 7.30pm

This is a public meeting which anyone from the parish of Ripponden can attend. Community Groups are encouraged to come along and give a short presentation of the work of their group during 2016/17. Residents are asked to come and speak to the Parish Council regarding issues they feel should be a priority for the Council’s attention during the coming year.

Civic Ball 2018

Thank you to everyone who attended the Annual Civic Ball at The Venue, Barkisland on Saturday 10th March. It was an excellent evening with good company and in such beautiful surroundings! A total of £650 was raised for the Chairman’s Charity which this year is – Local Community Groups within the parish.

Civic Ball 2018

The Parish Council is once again hosting its Annual Civic Ball, on Saturday 10th March 2018 at The Venue in Barkisland. After a sophisticated drinks reception listening to singer, Steve Symon and a fantastic four course meal, guests will be entertained by ‘Alison Jane’s Chequers’ and as always there will be a raffle prize-draw with a variety of high quality prizes on offer!
Tickets are £35 per head and details are available to download from the Parish Council website. Alternatively contact the Clerk on 01422 823245. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Chairman’s charity which this year is ‘Local Groups within the Parish’. For further details go to (

1918 First World War Centenary Commemoration

The Parish Council is producing a commemoration booklet and would like to include local people and their stories in a special souvenir for local residents.

WE NEED YOU to share your family stories and history about the First World War. We want to remember the local heroes and also those who were lost. This is the chance to talk to the older members of your families to find out about your personal history and we hope that some of you will want to share the stories to show what happened to the parish during the war years and immediately afterwards.
