Annual Garden Competition

Ripponden Parish Council is holding its Annual Garden Competition 2016 – and we are looking for as many different types of ‘garden’ as possible. Whether you have a collection or a single pot that you think is a winner, a garden that will wow the judges or if you boast a vegetable patch that is the envy of your neighbours we want to know about it.

New Chairman 2016-17

The Parish Council is pleased to announce that at its Annual Meeting held on 19th May 2016, Cllr Jayne Smith was elected Chairman for 2016-17.

Vacancy – Assistant Clerk

Ripponden Parish Council seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the post of Assistant Clerk.  The post is part-time, 5 hours per week with a starting salary of £9.20 per hour.

Duties include: acting as advisor to the council and members of the public, minute taking, compilation of correspondence, filing, book keeping and a willingness to undertake training as required. Closing date is 31st May 2016.

Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting was held last night at Ripponden Community Centre. It was a well attended and enjoyable meeting, chaired by the Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Craig Johnson. The meeting provided local community groups with the opportunity to give verbal reports to residents of their activities during 2015-2016. Residents also received a review from the Chairman of the Parish Council’s activities and its objectives for the forthcoming year. The Meeting was pleased to also have a Police Officer from the Neighbourhood Policing Team in attendance, who presented the quarterly crime figures for the Parish and listened to resident concerns.

Disruption to Bus Service

The Parish Council has been informed by METRO that on Tuesday 12th April 2016, Bradshaw Clough Road at Soyland will be closed for one day. Bus services 561 & 562 will be unable to serve Mill Bank, Cottonstones, Soyland etc. They will operate through Ripponden on the A58 on this day.
